Dynamicduo and PROWDMON Announce Special Event at LA’s Hammer Museum

Celebrating the opening of Only the Young: Experimental Art in Korea, 1960s-1970s, the Hammer Museum will be hosting a special event in collaborated with CJ ENM. The event will feature performances in the Hammer Museum’s courtyard by Korean hip hop duo Dynamicduo, and Street Woman Fighter dance crew PROWDMON’s Monika, Lip J, Minz, and Kayday. The event will take place on February 10th.

The opening celebration event will feature a cash bar, open galleries, and free admission on a first-come, first-serve basis. Members of the museum membership will receive priority entrance. The gallery is the first of its kind in North America, and is aimed at exploring the groundbreaking shifts nade by generations of artists after the Korean War. The gallery will feature approximately eighty works, and will be on display to the public from February 11th to May 12 of this year. Prior to its appearance at the Hammer Museum, this exhibit was featured at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, South Korea, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

PROWDMON is a 13 member dance crew led by Monika that first gained popular through the first season of Mnet’s Street Woman Fighter. Although the full crew will not be in attendance, performing members – leader Monika, Lip J, Minz, and Kayday – are still sure to deliver an unforgettable performance.

Dynamicduo is one of Korean hip hop’s longest running artists, having debuted in 1999. Helping pioneer the K-hip hop wave, their popularity has been growing even in recent years. Their song “Smoke,” featuring Lee Young Ji, went viral with dance crew BEBE’s leader Bada Lee’s choreography.
